Why are you worth what you charge?
My hourly portrait rate on a weekend is $900. This is based purely on demand. I started (surprise!) at $40 per session and each time I couldn't handle the volume I increased my pricing. Several years later, here I am. My wedding photography services are a way for me to have more time with my couples so I have the time to be creative throughout the day. I tell your story my own way and my voice evolves and improves each year based on investments I make in education during the winter season. I have backup equipment, $1 million insurance, a reliable assistant (my husband), and experience photographing paid clients 3-15 times per week. I think quickly on my feet if anything should go wrong. You want to invest in a professional that has experience as well as one that multiple couples have posted glowing reviews on. I work hard to build my reputation on top of my skill set.
Do you know off-camera flash?
Yes. New England is known for crazy weather. It rains. It gets dark. It hails in August. Being a natural light photographer is great, but what happens if things go wrong and you have to head indoors? I know and understand artificial lighting so that I can make any space work. This is part of the insurance you are investing in.
Do you backup images?
Of course. I make both a digitally redundant and physically redundant copy of your images the same night as your wedding day.
Do you provide high resolution images and a print release?
Yes. My base package includes at least 50 images taken per hour. The number of images are based on the flow of your day and the personalities present during your day. I provide images that tell a story not just images to fill a quota. The images provided are curated to be the best representation of your day, removing unflattering and redundant images.
How long will it take to my photos?
Processing takes 8-10 weeks. A highlight reel of my favaourite images of your day will be provided the week of your wedding so you will have a first look before everything is done up. You can use these for Thank You cards, and share with family & friends.
How do you make us feel comfortable in front of the camera?
If there's something you can see as a common thread in my reviews is that everyone loves their experience with me. I am friendly, and somehow calming to most personalities. Body language is something you can easily read in images. Take a look at my portfolio. I show 100% of weddings & sessions that sign my model release. Everyone looks comfortable and it's because I am good at creating that environment. Not everyone is a supermodel. It's my job to make everyone look like the best version of themselves.
Do you sell prints or albums?
I do offer these services. Albums start at $800 for a 10x10 linen album, or $1000 for a classic leather album. Album layout only services start at $400 and you can print them using your printer of choice. You are free to make prints from your high resolution JPEG files, but if you would like access to professional labs, I can provide that. Samples of print quality will be your complimentary prints.
Do you travel?
I have photographed weddings in The Netherlands, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Mexico. I have also traveled within the States to California, New Jersey, New York, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, Connecticut and more. Please inquire for details and associated travel fees.
How do I secure you?
A contract and a $1600 retainer to secure your date is what I require. Please contact me to provide contract details to receive your contract. If you sign within 7 days of contract receipt, you will receive 30 complimentary 4x6" prints (10 with your engagement session and 20 with your wedding coverage).
Can you stay longer if things run late?
Of course. I will double check with you if you require me to stay longer about 20 minutes before coverage ends. I'll always check in before the end of the evening to ensure you haven't forgotten any photos you may regret not capturing. During the planning process I send out a thorough questionnaire to pick your brain about photos you may want (with certain guests) and will review that shot list with you before the end of the evening. The questionnaire is also where you should note any expectations and 'must have' shots.
Can you Photoshop X,Y, Z?
I firmly believe that it's my job to make you comfortable in front of my camera as well as coach you during the pre-wedding session and wedding day portraits so you are captured in the most beautiful and flattering way. I do not use Photoshop to alter the way you look.
